Good morning my Artsy friends. I wanted to share a little of what is going on in the studio lately. Busy, busy busy...I love it!
I think I may have been a calligrapher or scribe in my previous life. . . I simply love ornate lettering and drawing them by hand.
The term Monogram actually means a motif made by overlapping or combining two or more letters or other graphemes to form one symbol according to Wikipedia. I love the simplicity of a single letter standing alone on 140 lb. watercolour paper. The texture is Divine.
I used a variety of pencils to achieve this detail. . . Prismacolor Premier and Verithin. The Premier gives me the rich hue and the Verithin allows me to create the fine lines needs in the swirls.
I have created these with multiple letters together in various sizes and colours. . . makes a lovely wedding or anniversary gift.
This is a welcome sign for a front hall. . . you can see how a 'name' would appear framed, the key is finding the right frame first and making the name to fit the opening.
So many possibilities. . .
Enjoy and we'll talk soon.
